Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Services Filling the Gap in Dallas Food Deserts
AgriLife
At the Urban County Farm in Garland Texas, Jeffrey Raska, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service horticulture coordinator, partnered with Dallas County Commissioner District 1 Theresa Daniel, Ph.D., to combat local food insecurity by transforming a 12-acre urban location into a fruitful farm and garden tended to by Texas Master Gardener volunteers. The location has produced and donated 2.5 tons of food to shelters and community centers with kitchens in Dallas County.
